Much has been said about the bass heavy/missing treble of these IEMs. I gotta say, I love the tightly controlled, deep bass, but even with the default “treble” filter on, highs are not as sparkling as it needs to top all that richness. The other filters (“balanced” and “bass”) are even worse in that regard. But while I was try8ng out all the filters and tips, I accidentally put a tips on with no filter at all and the result was… WILD!The highs were suddenly unleashed and chaotic in a super fun way, and the separation and layers became three dimensional! My only issue at this point was tip security, as the filters have a ridge that provide a grip for the ear tips. I took the useless “balanced” filter and poked the filter and mesh out with a tiny screwdriver and stuck it back on naked. PRESTO! I suddenly had cool clear sparkling highs, thumping bass, and clear defined mids, mixed with a bit of chaos that makes listening to these fun and surprising. You get a lot of great drivers capable of some amazing output for not a lot of money with these, but FiiO has engineered them into boring oblivion. Making that one change completely unmoored their tuning in the best way. I highly recommend taking the leap with your least favorite of the supplied filters. You’ll never miss it, and what you gain is magic!
